The Amman Valley Men’s Shed is a social group for the benefit of local men, although women are always welcomed.
Various Men’s Sheds tend to be different and will have evolved depending on their member’s interests, abilities, equipment, funds and premises. Your interests, skills and abilities may be of real benefit to your local shed where others may like to learn something new.
The Amman Valley shed has a great collection of members with a wide range of interests and skills. As part of the Y Banwen Association community partnership, we have the use of part of the old primary school in Lower Brynamman.
We provide a safe place for men to go and socialise and for them to develop their skills or learn new ones. Our shed is a place where men can make meaningful friends and feel useful to the community.
Although we are not a business, we do make items for sale to help pay for our running costs. Presently we are producing bird boxes and planters. We also refurbish recovered bicycles and tools that the police would otherwise have to destroy.
Anyone is welcome to join our shed, you don’t need any skills and you can pop in whenever we’re open, the kettle is always on.
There’s no joining or membership fees, all we ask is that you chip in £3 and sign the visitor’s book, for any week that you visit. This cash goes towards tea, coffee, and our electricity and water bills etc
